WESTERN HEMISPHERE

North America, Central America, or South America

North America

Rockhouse Basin, California, USA

Report Submitted by:
Rick on August 8, 1998

Location:
Rockhouse Basin Trail, Domelands Wilderness, Sierra Nevada

Reported Problems:
Lots of fishermen trash at the Kern River, the trail vicinity is quite trashy (especially 20 feet on each side). I picked up 2 shopping bags full of trash from one campsite, including a pair of pants, lots of broken glass, and aluminum from the fire pit. The area needs a lot of care as it seems to attract alot of people (fishermen and scouts).

Mount Baden Powell, California, USA

Report Submitted by:
Rick on August 29, 1998

Location:
Pacific Crest Trail, Angeles National Forest High Country, Vincent Gap to summit

Reported Problems:
I picked up 1 trash bag of debris from the summit, and that was only on the west side of the mountain top. The trail vicinity is pretty clean; the scouts have done well keeping such a popular trail debris-free! There still may be trash at the summit, check the south slope (I didn't get to that side). No fire pits at the summit.

Jackass Peak, California, USA

Report Submitted by:
Rick on October 30, 1998

Location:
Albanita Multi-use Trail, Near Monache Meadows trailhead, Sequoia National Forest south of Golden Trout Wilderness

Reported Problems:
Very little trash, hopefully there won't be many more visitors this season. There was already 6 inches of snow on the ground! Cleaned the fire pit at the trailhead and the surrounding area.
